There s no magical solution. In my opinion there s only one secret ingredient a wetting agent called ilford ilfotol. The adhesive won t wet out or bond with the substrate as quickly as usual. 2 5ml per side is exactly enough to get good coverage of the vinyl surface controlling the delivery to keep it away from the label and sufficient not to start evaporating during the few minutes of a cleaning session.

The dry method as its name indicates does not use fluid but rather depends on the skill of the installer to correctly position the film. Temperature should be in a range of about 70 degree f. The wet method involves making a soap solution using a mixture of dish soap and water to get both the application surface and the adhesive side of the decal wet before applying the decal. The wet application method applies a vinyl graphic to a substrate by using a fluid to assist with positioning.

Not only will it control the exact dosage of preparations like wetting agent it ensures you administer the correct amount of cleaning fluid to the record surface. Those who are still learning need the flexibility that wetting solutions can offer. The soap gives the solution a bit of viscosity to allow the installer to slide the decal around and position it perfectly on the intended target in our case embossed letters or chrome emblems. It may take 30 minutes or more for the vinyl to set before the tape can be removed.

Because a mixture consisting only of 1 3 isopropyl alcohol 99 9 and 2 3 distilled water will not penetrate the vinyl grooves well enough. If you re doing a wet application with an acrylic adhesive vinyl you should be prepared to wait a while before removing the transfer tape.
